CODE OF CONDUCT
Equitoy
members are required to accept and abide by the Association's
Code of Conduct.
1 SAFETY
Members of the Association must ensure that all products
comply with all relevant EU legislation and in
particular:
- The Consumer Protection Act
- The Toys (Safety) Regulations
- The General Product Safety Regulations
- The Pencils & Graphic Instruments (Safety) Regulations
- The Food Imitations (Safety) Regulations
- The Trade Descriptions Act
- The Violent Crimes Reduction Act (Realistic Imitation Firearms) Regulations
2 SAFETY/QUALITY MANAGEMENT
Members of the Association are required to operate effective
quality systems in order to be able to show due diligence
in the event of enquiry from enforcement authorities and
others.
3 CERTIFICATION
Members are required to ensure that suppliers and manufacturers
are able to ensure consistency of design and quality in
order to give confidence that products comply on a batch
by batch basis. Certification of products by foreign suppliers
must be a prerequisite of all Members' orders. Products
must be assessed before and after shipment into the EU.
4 LABELLING
All products should be clearly labelled with at least
the following information: -
- The name and address of the member
- The European CE mark
- Clear and unambiguous safety warnings
- Instructions for use of the product when misuse might
cause an unacceptable risk to the user.
Members must not in any circumstance misuse statutory
warnings or use warnings on products that are not required
to carry them.
5 INSURANCE
All members must maintain an up to date policy of product
liability insurance. Guidance on suitable policy terms
is available from the Association. Failure to comply with
this Code may adversely affect insurance cover.
6 MEMBERSHIP
All members must comply with this Code of Practice. Failure
to follow the Code may result in termination of membership
by the Council of the Association.
